Elk Point Water Spray Park

Elk Point is a wonderful community with a growing population of young families. These families have expressed the need for more recreational amenities aimed at our young children. In response to this need a group of dedicated volunteers have come together to fundraise for a water spray park. They are already hard at work spearheading a number of fundraising endeavors, with more to come!

You will be surprised to learn how low the water usage for this park will be. The water does not run continuously, only when activated by the kids, and only for a timed period. The run off will be tanked and used for watering plants in the community.

If you would like to be part of the fundraising committee or to make monetary donations, call the Town Administration Office at

(780)724-3810 for more information.

Where will the park be?
The primary location under serious consideration is north of the arena. This location is favored by most due to the close proximity to playground space and parks and is in a residential area. It offers mature trees for shade on hot sunny days. There is plenty of space for future development consideration.

A secondary location was under consideration east of the Eco Centre and south of Tags. The most favorable reason for this location was the visual attraction for potential tourists on the highway. There is an existing gazebo and picnic tables.

When will it be open?
It opened July 28, 2011

How does the park work?
Each component is motion activated. The water does not spray when not in use. There is also a timer system that controls the water activation, which means that the water cannot be activated outside of the designated park hours.

How big is it?
The park is approximately 3700 square feet.

What about vandalism?
The components of the park are virtually indestructible. They are made of heavy duty aluminum. Someone would have to use a bat or pipe just to dent them. This activity would draw attention and presumably instigate a call to the RCMP.

Will the water be safe for consumption?
The water used is the same potable water that runs in our water taps at home. The runoff water is not reused for the park. It will be piped to a storage tank and used by the town staff for watering flowers and plants during the summer.
